In nearly 8 years, Mopria Alliance has made significant strides providing users with a universal standard to easily print or scan to any Mopria certified printer from their Android device. And with the increased demand for mobile connectivity, we are proud to say that Mopria is meeting that demand and has surpassed 5,000 certified printer models which equate to more than 120 million certified printers from various manufacturers.
But how can you tell if a specific printer is Mopria certified? You can find the Mopria logo on a printer’s packaging or you can check the list of certified products to confirm that it is Mopria certified!
Mopria certified is an elite designation meaning that the printer model is able to receive print jobs wirelessly from an Android device using either the Mopria Print Service app, which is available in the Google Play store, or Android’s Default Print Service. It also means that jobs can be received from the Windows 10 zero install print driver available on Windows 10 October 2018 Update and later. Wireless printing with Mopria makes it easier to print that important document or special picture, with little or no setup required between the printer and your phone.
Mopria Print and Scan Apps
Mopria recently released new updates to the Mopria Print Service and Mopria Scan applications and both can be downloaded from Google Play or the Mopria website.
The Mopria Print Service app allows for wireless printing to a Mopria certified printer, regardless of the manufacturer’s brand. On Android, you can also print using the Share feature from many popular apps, including Facebook, Flipboard, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Pinterest. Devices that have the app will see a Mopria Print Service option along with email and messaging. Simply select the Mopria Print Service option, select the printer, adjust settings, and print!
The Mopria Scan app is a convenient way to scan from anywhere, with a streamlined scanning process that allows users to scan directly from their scanner or multi-function printer (MFP) to an Android device. While previous scanning methods required vendor-specific applications to be installed, or poor quality scans via camera, Mopria Scan eliminates the hassle of installing apps for multiple scanner brands, and supports most manufacturers’ scan devices.
If you already have the Mopria Print Service or the Mopria Scan apps on your device, they should update automatically. However, if you haven’t had the chance to try out Mopria yet, head over to the Google Play Store to download our newest versions for print and scan!
