You may have heard the term “share-to-print” and wondered what exactly it means. First, we’ll give a simple explanation of what it means, then a quick look at what it does.
If you are looking to print from your Android device, such as a photo from a social media account, “share-to-print” is the process to do that. Think of it like this, instead of sharing (or sending) the photo to a friend, you are sharing (or sending) the photo to a printer. It’s as easy as that.
While super simple to use, “share-to-print” is actually a pretty powerful feature. Part of the Mopria Print Service, “share-to-print” allows you to print not only photos, but all kinds of documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, web pages and more.
When the formatting of an item, such as a school paper or legal document is important to keep, “share-to-print” is the way to go. It sends the document directly to a printer, without having to open the document in a third-party app, which could alter the layout and format of the item.
Here’s how it works. First, download the Mopria Print Service app. Then, head to the app you want to print from such as Facebook, Dropbox or Microsoft Word, for example:
- Select the photo, PDF, webpage, text file or Office document you want to print.
- Hit the “share” icon, which looks like this:
or, an arrow pointing to the right, like this:
Sometimes you’ll need to select the drop-down menu which is usually displayed as three vertical dots at the top of the screen to find the “share” option.
- Select the Mopria Print Service from the list. This opens the Mopria Print Service where you can select the printer and choose how many copies you want, paper size, page orientation (portrait or landscape) and so on.
- Then hit the print icon.
More and more apps are available every day that are enabling both share and print capabilities. To make the most out of these options, use the Mopria Print Service app, which is easy and gives you more convenience and flexibility.
