We’re excited to announce that Mopria Scan, version 1.3 is now LIVE in the Google Play Store.
Since this is the first time we’ve discussed Mopria Scan on the blog, and in case this is the first time you’ve heard of Mopria Scan, let’s take a moment to review what Mopria Scan can do for you.
We released Mopria Scan at the end of 2018 as a companion app to the Mopria Print Service. With Mopria Scan, users can scan images directly from a scanner or multi-function printer to their mobile device, as opposed to scanning to their PC and then emailing the document to their mobile device. Since the initial release, we even added Wi-Fi direct capability, meaning that you don’t even have to have your scanner connected to a Wi-Fi router to be able to send documents directly to your phone!
Since its release, Mopria Scan has seen widespread adoption among Android users, and it’s no wonder why. When it comes to digitizing documents, particularly multiple page documents, most users prefer to scan the document, as opposed to taking a photograph of individual pages with their phones. And because the majority of those users send those documents to their mobile devices anyway, it only makes sense to scan directly to your Android device.
Version 1.3 improves the functionality of Mopria Scan by adding some important bug fixes, and adding even more support for scanners and multi-function printers. In fact, with Mopria Scan 1.3, you can scan directly to your Android with over 500 Mopria certified scanner product models.
If you already have Mopria Scan, you should be receiving the update automatically. If you haven’t had a chance to give it a try yet, now is the perfect time! Head on over to Google Play to download Mopria Scan now!
